Realise that there is "black ice" which is not easily differentiated. Also once on it, it is so slippery as for one to be completely overwhelmed by it. Rental cars without snow clamps are not able to overcome this situation. Weather reports do not get through to tourists who must also be prepared to wait and to have sufficient winter clothes to tide through.
